Im Back!!!
Whats good yall! Its been a few days since I posted, but ya boy been super busy! Our new Blaze ministry just started, I been workin on two albums (Preach's and Mine), I have two jizzobs, and I have to sleep sometime in between all that haha. God is definitely doing major things with my life right now!
As I started working on my new album "B1", I started realizing some major things in my life that need changing. The biggest thing I've been missing out on is Bible study time on my own. I've been really gettin in the Word and its been major for me. Im starting Ecclesiastes right now which talks about the vanity of this world and how much we need the Lord. As far as music is concerned, be on the lookout for an update to the site. I may post up some more free music since i know erbody likes free music and previews of songs from the album. Also, Js (formerly known as JCS) will be releasing some new music soon as we begin work on his new album. Preach has a new project dropping soon and the songs are HOT!!! I produced and mixed alot of the tracks so I've been blessed to work with a good artist who is definitely growing. I will get at yall asap wit some Bible studies and some deep stuff. Follow me on Twitter, twitter.com/chrysbeats . Til next time, stay outta the box, unless God's in it haha! peace! Merger
Whats good yall? Its been a couple of days since I been on(thanks to finals week!. I hope all is well with everyone, and if not shoot me a comment and Ill pray for you. So anyways, I got my hands on this bangin album by Mark J. called Everyday World, (which most definitely deserves all 5 stars it received at Dasouth.com). There's one song that I've been blastin since i got the CD and I can't and don't want to get it out of my head; its called Merge. The hook shouts "Merge how you live and what you believe", and the whole song boast in Christ and a life of obedience. Its amazing how such a song can make you re-evaluate the way you're living.
Here are some quotes from the song (you may be offended, its a good thing tho): "who made that mic? who made that booth? who can blow on your soul and leave you dead (poof)?" "materialism's blowin up your whole ego, big head can't fit thru an eye of a needle" "He's sayin draw near, you sayin vamoose" "no "you want heaven no hell, you want freedom no jail, but you self-righteous to the bone, but can't even tell" "you want Jesus the savior, but not Jesus the Lord, its 2-in-1 fam, its not either nor or" Overall its a good message for Christians and non Christians alike because sometimes we talk the talk, but (forget?) to walk the walk... On a lighter note... two finals down, two to go. Next week is indoor nationals and we're starting a new college ministry this summer! Holla at ya boy!!! Get that new Tedashii when it comes out, Im upset cuz I wanted that mug before I got to nationals! Knowing God
Whats good yall...
First things first, Burgside Records would definitely like to welcome Josh Crum aka Preach to the camp! He's a big addition to the label and has already started making an impact on my last album with "He Brought Me Through" and "Do It All For The Lord". He's got a new project coming out so keep your eyes peeled for that. So, I was just doing the verse of the day for my facebook group "Christians On A Mission" (plug), and I found the verse 1 John 2:3. "By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments" is a really good verse. I've actually got a song on my upcoming album called Knowing God and this paragraph in 1 John came at no better time than right now. We live in a "feel good" generation where the gospel is only supposed to make you happy on the inside and make you feel good, even when the sin in your life is more than the righteousness. However, this verse says everything we need to know about how wrong American Christianity really is. If you look at our country and the people we call Christians, you can see that a lot of Christians dont show God keeping His commandments. I'll stress that nobody on this earth (except Christ, who is THE definition of perfection) can fully keep God's commandments. Knowing that we can't reach perfection, how do we approach a verse like this? By showing obedience in our lives and striving for perfection. No one said it would be easy (prior to the new happy gospel movement) and Christ Himself had no place to lay His head, nobody to support Him during His betrayal, etc. We have to realize that though obedience on earth is hard, and isn't popular, that God is watching every move we make and will reward us FAR greater than anyone on this earth could imagine. Stay strong and blessed. In the words of Mark J "Merge how you live and what you believe" Also, if anyone in the area wants to be involved in a college-age fellowship, let me know. As always, God Bless! Chrys Jones aka Chrysbeats www.burgsiderecords.net need beats? chrysbeats@yahoo.com and www.burgsiderecords.net/production.cfm National Day Of Prayer
What's good?! Its ya boy comin thru to talk about prayer today since it's Prayer Day or something like that. I like the idea of a "prayer day" but at the same time I hope today is not the only day we focus on prayer. I know i am lacking it that department, but it takes conscious effort and hard work to get a better prayer life, and as Christians we need to understand the value of prayer in our lives.
I just finished a month of reading Colossians daily and one of the verses I kept looking at over and over was 4:2-3. These verses speak of "devoting (ourselves) to prayer keeping in it with an attitude of thanksgiving" as well as praying for the apostles and saint who are being imprisoned. The verb in verse 2 really stands out to me because its not a word we use every day. We are told to devote ourselves to prayer; devote means"to be courageously persistent"or "to hold fast and not let go" and refers to persistent prayer. John Piper considers prayer to be the wartime walkie-talkie that we can speak to God with while we're in the field. We should be constantly staying in touch with God, even if we are not struggling we can be thanking Him for something. Let me remind you that my prayer life is FAR from where it needs to be, but I am definitely working towards improving the time I spend with God in prayer. And actually today would be the perfect day for us to pray for each other and our prayer lives. Keep me in your prayers as I try to get through these finals and get ready for nationals in track. I have a LOT going on in a small amount of time. Its gonna be an interesting two weeks for me. Keep reppin Christ and please say a pray for GOD Gang and our ministry as we come together to make music for the Kingdom. BTW... if you havent got the "No Name Mixtape '09" you should def get that! haha and be on the lookout for some new info from Burgside Records coming real soon! God Bless Chrysbeats Welcome
